In the variants for flat surfaces, the sensor is fitted within a contact block. This can be screwed or welded onto the vessel surface. Variants for pipes are secured using a tightening strap.
Cable
There are various insulating materials available to suit any particular environmental conditions. The cable end is made up, ready for connection, but can also be fitted with a plug or connected to a field case, as options.
Features:
- • Sensor ranges -40 ... +1,200 °C [-40 ... +2,192 °F]
- • Easily exchanged, no thermowell necessary
- • For screw-fitting, welding or using a tightening strap
- • Cable from PVC, silicone, PTFE or glass fibre
- • Explosion-protected versions

WIKA TC52-M Magnetic surface thermocouple
The magnetic thermocouple is designed as a non-welded option for vessel wall temperature measurement. The circular magnet design incorporates an insulation barrier from radiant heat along with a sensor tip designed to maximise surface contact to ensure accurate temperature measurement. The neck extension can be manufactured to length based on insulation thickness. The spring-loaded neck extension ensures sensor contact with the vessel wall and allows for maintenance without the use of tools above the insulation/cladding of the vessel. Features: • Simplified maintenance and sensor removal without the use of specialised tools • Maximum surface contact tip design • High-temperature applications (up to 540 °C [1,000 °F])
WIKA TC53 Bayonet thermocouple
ProbeThis cable thermocouple feature a bayonet-type probe connection. TC53 series thermocouples can be mounted into drilled holes without thermowells, e.g. into machine components. CableThere are various insulating materials available to match different environmental conditions. The free ends of the cable are made up ready for connection, or can be fitted with connectors or sockets as optional extras. Features: • Sensor ranges up to max. 1,200 °C [2,193 °F] • Single and dual thermocouple • Good heat transfer through adjustable spring-loading • Easy installation and removal, no tools needed • Explosion-protected versions
WIKA TC80 High-temperature thermometer
High temperature sensor model TC80 thermocouple assemblies are designed for measuring extreme high temperatures. High temperature sensors are manufactured using high purity and high temperature ceramics as well as oxidation and corrosion resistant metals. The high temperature sensor assembly can be supplied with or without a transmitter, and the thermocouple temperature ranges are dependent on element calibration and inner/outer tube material. Features: • Application ranges up to max. 1,600 °C [2,912 °F] (DIN EN 50446) • Thermowell made of heat-resistant steel or ceramic, also with ceramic inner tube • Support tube of carbon steel • Gastight process connection • Coating (optional)
WIKA TC81 Thermocouple for flue gas temperature measurements
These thermometers are suitable for gaseous media in the low pressure range (up to approx. 1 bar). Different protection tube materials, with or without enamelling, ensure matching to the respective thermal load. Measuring insert is replaceable. This enables inspection, measuring equipment monitoring or, when servicing is necessary, replacement while the plant is running. Features: • Application ranges up to +1,200 °C [+2,192 °F] • Protection tube from heat-resistant steel • Measuring insert replaceable • Gas-tight process connection (option)
WIKA TC82 High-temperature thermocouple
This high-temperature thermocouple has been specifically developed for use in hazardous applications. A protection tube made from high-temperature ceramic or silicon-carbide, with or without an additional inner tube, protects the thermocouple from the process medium as well as mechanical damage. Hermetically sealed junctions prevent toxic gases from being able to escape the reactor. The special design of this Ex-approved high-temperature thermometer can significantly improve life expectancy of the thermocouple and reduce downtime. Features: • Flushing connection to prolong the life of the thermocouple (selectable) • Increased safety against escape of toxic media through double sealing system • High variance of thermowell / protection tube materials • Available with temperature transmitter or field transmitter • High process safety with processes up to 1,700 °C [3,092 °F]
WIKA TC83 Sapphire-design thermocouple
This high-temperature thermocouple with a gas-tight sapphire protection tube has been specifically developed for use in hydrogenous atmosphere.Through the monocrystalline structure, the sapphire protects the noble metal of the thermocouple from poisonous toxic media in the aggressive process atmosphere. Features: • Cost saving by non-purge system • Reduction of unplanned downtimes • Increased safety against escape of toxic media through double sealing system • High variance of thermowell / protection tube materials • High process safety with processes up to 1,700 °C [3,092 °F]
WIKA TC84 Sapphire-design thermocouple
This high-temperature thermocouple with a gas-tight sapphire protection tube has been specifically developed for use in gasification reactors. Through the monocrystalline structure, the sapphire protects the precious metal of the thermocouple from poisonous toxic media in the aggressive atmosphere of the gasification reactor. Features: • 3 times longer service life in comparison to purely ceramic protection tubes due to the monocrystalline structure of the sapphire sensor • High process safety with processes up to 1,700 °C [3,092 °F] and 65 bar [943 psi] • Reduction of unplanned downtime • Increased safety through double sealing system against escape of toxic media • Cost savings through the elimination of a purge system and the repairability of the sensor
WIKA TC85 Measuring insert
TC85 series thermocouples are alumina ceramic insulated sensors for use in extreme high-temperature applications. The high-purity ceramic insulator is designed with continuous multiple holes and houses the noble metal thermocouple wire. A variety of mounting and termination styles are available. Features: • Application ranges from 0 ... 1,700 °C • Manufactured from the finest high-purity, high-temperature ceramics and metals • Suitable for mounting in ceramic thermowells
